Northumbria Law School is moving!
Northumbria University Law School is moving to its new 70 million state of the art home in September. Located on the
newly developed City Campus East in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, the School will be joined on the new futuristic campus by
Newcastle Business School and the School of Design. The Universitys overall 103 million campus redevelopment is its largest
investment programme to date and demonstrates Northumbrias commitment to
its future success and that of its students.
The new Law School which will share its building with Newcastle
Business School will incorporate 16,000 sq m of purpose built accommodation
including state of the art lecture theatres and seminar rooms and student
hub areas. The futuristic design
includes a light well in the middle of the building allowing natural
light to flood in, reducing the need to artificial lighting. The mesh on
the faade of the building screens the building from the suns glare.
City Campus East is the first stage of Northumbrias larger
redevelopment plans for the existing City Campus site. The movement of
the Schools of Law and Design along with Newcastle Business School will
free up space on the current campus allowing
room for development for the universities other schools and services.
The existing campus which will now be known as City Campus West will be
redeveloped to include a new sports complex with a fitness suite, squash
courts and adaptable space to be used for
conferences and examinations. The redevelopment of City Campus West
is due for completion by 2010.
